Sarah Heineman, DVM

Dr. Sarah M. Heineman is a California native with deep southern roots. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas in 2005. During her undergraduate studies, she was part of a multi-site research team that worked with African elephants to study their reproductive health and chemical communication. After graduating from Texas A&M University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009, Dr. Heineman worked as a general practitioner in San Antonio, Texas. In 2012, her interest in emergency medicine lead her to Katy, Texas to help facilitate the transition of a daytime general practice to a 24-hour hospital that provided primary and emergency care to dogs, cats, exotic companion animals, poultry, pigs, and small ruminants. She served as the hospital’s Associate Medical Director from 2018-2020 prior to joining the team at Emergency Pet Care of Texas in 2020 to focus on providing emergency and critical care. Her professional interests include feline medicine, multi-modal pain management, and a Fear Free approach to veterinary care. Outside of work, Dr. Heineman enjoys hiking, live music, comedy shows, and true crime podcasts.
